Become a Member
Membership indicates that you are in agreement with our purpose and are willing to share in a covenant with other members to affirm the Unitarian Universalist Purposes and Principles. There are no specific spiritual or religious beliefs that you must profess to become a member. Everyone is welcome regardless of their personal or religious beliefs, sexual orientation or identity, background, place of origin, etc
The Joys of Membership
Members share in the life of the community of the Unitarian Fellowship of Peterborough, shaping its mission and determining its course. Members join together to welcome, nurture, inspire, and challenge one another, and to take action in the world.
The Specifics of Membership
All members who have signed the membership book and are active in the congregation have a right to vote in congregational meetings, during which we set the course for the congregation’s future by making decisions about leadership, property, by-laws, budget, etc.
Those who have been members for one full year can serve on the Board of Directors.
Members call on the minister for rites of passage such as weddings, memorial services, and child dedications without fee.
Ways to Learn More
Stepping Stones
Periodically, the Connections Team provides an opportunity for searchers and explorers to ask questions and learn more about our congregation. Look for announcements for these first “stepping stones” in a journey to belonging. These take place in the small classroom on the first floor after the service (about 11:30am.)
Pathways to Membership
We offer this two-session course, twice a year, to those who are interested in learning more about this community. This course is strongly suggested for those who want to become members of this congregation. Please contact us if you’re interested in taking this class so we can include you in future communications about it.
