Native Tree Fundraiser
Sue Sauve and Katherine McGuiness are hosting a native tree fundraiser for the Unitarian Fellowship of Peterborough. When you order a tree from us, we will deliver the tree to your property, work with you to choose the best site, plant it with rich soil amendments and provide animal protection. If you are more than 30 minutes from Peterborough, contact Sue Sauve before ordering. The species of trees we are offering are silver maple, black cherry, paper birch and tamarack. Trees are $50 each, except for the tamaracks, which are $25 because they are smaller.
We purchased the trees through the Otonabee Conservation annual tree sale. Orders will be received from Earth Day, April 22 until May 16th. Once we have your order, we will contact you to arrange a time to plant the tree(s) at your property.
The trees we plant will be small, 1’ to 2’ high, giving them the best opportunity to develop great roots so these trees can live a long time. We chose these species because they are native trees that support wildlife and biodiversity. Different species of trees require different amounts of light and moisture. Here is a brief summary of the conditions that the trees we are offering require.

An Exercise in Understanding
The blanket exercise is a powerful and interactive learning experience that explores 500+ year relations between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada. Join us for an opportunity to begin healing our relationship with each other and the land. Through repositioning ourselves around the room in response to questions and stories, we create visual and visceral vignettes that expand our understanding of the history of these lands. This event will be facilitated by Mshkiki Gitigaan Kwe and a contribution of $15 to $30 is appreciated, but your presence is most important, so please sign up to attend and come!

About Our Musical Lead - Wes C-T
Wes C-T is a musician and music educator from Turtle Island, who grew up in Peterborough attending PUF the magic fellowship. Wes currently lives in Toronto; their musical endeavours range from folksy to the experimental with plenty of room in between for samba, jazz, and pop. When they can’t afford to hire bandmates Wes is known to get a bit lonely, so they would appreciate it if you come to the Wes Needs a Band show.
Tickets are $30 for regular admission, $15 for students and free for under 12.
